An Overview of Google.com

The Google homepage is one of the most simple, direct webpages I have ever seen. Google is a search engine, and they don’t let anything get in the way of that very important fact. Many search engines have tried to branch out and do other things, but I admire Google for their allegiance to web search.

Here is a shot of the default Google homepage as of today:

Fortunately, the page is fairly straight-forward. In order to perform a simple Google search, all you have to do is type what is known as a “Search Query” into the text box, which could be literally anything imaginable, and Google will return a list of relevant results. Let’s say you wanted to learn more about the basic building-block of guacamole, Avocados. You could simply type “Avocado” into the Google search box, and then click on “Google Search.” You would obtain results similar to the following:

Many people follow this simple procedure for doing all of their searches online. This isn’t a bad thing, but when you start searching about more complicated topics, there are many more efficient ways to search. This is the purpose of this website, to teach internet users how to unleash the amazing power of internet search engines and use that power to perform smart searches.

Everyone has seen the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button right next to the “Google Search” button on the front page of the Google website. Personally, I had always wondered what this button did. I never had the curiousity to click it until I’d been using the internet for over five years! This button will simply bypass the search results and take you directly to the website of the most relevant search result, which is the one that would have appeared at the top of the search results page. In our avocado example above, it would have been the www.avocado.org website.

That’s all for now. We invite everyone to post any questions that they may have about searching, and we will do our best to answer them. Thanks for visiting EasyGoogler.com!
