Finding Music Band & Artist Information With Google
Did you know that you can easily find all the tracks that any popular band has ever recorded just by typing a couple of keywords in a Google search box? It really is quite easy.
Suppose you want to see all of the albums recorded by a certain band. You could head over to Amazon or iTunes, but that could take some time. Also, there’s no guarantee that those stores will even be selling all of the albums by a certain band due to complicated record deals with online music merchants.
However, Google will show you everything that an artist or a band has recorded. All you have to do is type the following into a Google search box:
music:[name of band or artist]
Google will then bring up a page for the band or artist. If there could be more than one band/artist that matches what you searched for, then Google will show you a page like this one that I got:

Since I know I want R.E.M., I can just click on them at the very top of the page. On this page, you also find out that Henk Rem and Rem Maslov also exist. This gives you a rough idea of the number of artists and bands for which Google contains information.
After clicking on the music link for R.E.M. at the top of the page, I am greeted with another page that has a listing of their albums. From this page, Google provides links to do all of the following:
- Read reviews on the album and see how many stars the reviewers give the album on average.
- Buy the album from a variety of different online music dealers.
- View websites about the artist or band.
- View the latest news about the artist or band.
- View photos of the artist or band.
- Participate in discussions about the artist or band.

Also, Google shows you a sampling of the tracks that appeared on each album. If you want to see all of the tracks, you can click on the Show all tracks link in the left-hand column of the page under the Views heading. If you do that, you will see this page that contains the tracks on each album:
By clicking on a track, Google will then take you to a page that discusses the clicked track:
Here, Google points you to a few different sites that will show you the lyrics of the song that you are viewing. Also, Google gives you the option to purchase the song through iTunes, Rhapsody, or AOL Music Now.
