Many people do not know this, but when you enter a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) into a Google search box, Google will return a link to look up information about that particular automobile through Carfax.

For example, if I type in a VIN of a car that I drove many years ago, Google recognizes it as a VIN and returns the following results:

Upon clicking the link, I am taken to Carfax and can see the basic information about the vehicle for free.  Of course, fi you want to find out more about the six records that Carfax has on this vehicle you would have to pay, but it is a handy way to get the basic information about the exact model of your vehicle just by using the vehicle id number.
